The history of the actual Pachino has beginning when in 1734 the Starrabba of Piazza Armerina, owners of the feuds Scibini and Bimmisca decided to reside on the territory for better taking care of their affairs and with the purpose to also acquire the title of count. To such end the brothers Gaetano and Vincent Starrabba asked to Charles III of Borbone first (1758) and to Ferdinando I (1760) then the authorization to found a city, decree that was issued in Naples in date 21/7/1760 and that was made executive in date 1/12/1760. Also being relatively a young city, it has shown for worth of it’s effective inhabitants, in origin deriving to a large extent from near Malta and subsequently from the near Common as Modica, Scicli, Rosolini, Ispica and as it regards Marzamemi, from Avola Augusta and Syracuse, to have known how to reach shortly time level economic and cultural of relief. In fact, currently in agriculture, in greater part in greenhouses but height hips field, the denominated “ciliegino diPachino" (protected from the mark IGP), the tomato “costoluto” and the melon “cantalupo”, they dominate the world markets of the sector over that for the sweet taste also for the elevated ownerships organics in them contents.   For a while it is rebirthed and takes more and more vigor the cultivation of the grapevine (the viticultura of Pachino founds him on the cultivation of the “Nero D’Avola” that constitutes the principal vine for the production of the DOC Eloro, in the) and of the olive. Visiting Marzamemi you can taste besides some specialties typical of the zone and particularly the preserved fish products what bottarga, fillets of anchovies, sausages of tuna, sardines under salt etc.

 Physical  appearance.

 Sets to 65 meters on the level of the sea, in the Oriental South part of the Province in Syracuse, astride the Mediterranean Sea and of the Ionian, it has been having a sweet climate for the autumn to the Spring, a clear sky always during the whole year (an investigation of the U.E. of 2001 has defined him the sunniest city and with less clouds and with the clearest and clear sky of the whole European Community) and a warm climate in the summer that joined to the fabulous beaches of it’s territory (8 Kms) what Morghella, Concerie, Granelli, Ciappa, Scarpitta, Punto Rio. etc., and to a clear and fishy sea, they make of Pachino a tourist center very appreciated with a flow of strangers and tourists that it always goes of year to year increasing.  Other place very frequented both from the places and from the strangers it is the village of Marzamemi both also it for the sandy beaches that for the fresh fish still fished by a very consistent fishing fleet. Marzamemi was built by the Arabs, of which remain well you preserved the "Casuzze Arabe" and relative courtyard built over 1000 years ago while the actual Marzamemi officially goes up again to 1752 when were built by the Prince of Villadorata the Building, the Loggia, the new Tonnara and the Chapel, works these that deserve to be visited.  Here the impassioned ones of the sea can satisfy their hobbies, for almost all the year, both with the underwater fishing of fishes appreciated what the grouper, the lobster, the cuttle fish and the octopus.
